筑波山神社・年越祭／Year-end Festival at Mr. Tsukuba

今日は節分ですね。

Today is Setsubun (the last day of a season).

節分は、元来は立春・立夏・立秋・立冬の前日、「季節の分かれ目」の意味ですが、現在は立春の前日だけにしか使われていませんね。

Originally each day before the first day of spring, summer, autumn, and winter was called “Setsubun” which means "a day that seasons change", but now it is used only for spring.

昔は立春の頃が一年の始まりの日で、その前日の節分は大晦日にあたったため、現在でも節分のことを「年越し」という地方があります。

A long time ago, around the first day of spring was the beginning of the year, so Setsubun used to be New Year's Eve. Therefore, there are some regions at where Setsubun is called "Toshikoshi (New Year’s Eve)".

そして、筑波山神社でも旧正月の頃に行われていた追儺式（豆まき）「年越祭」がこの時期に行われます。

At Mt. Tsukuba Shrine, Tsuinashiki (ceremony to drive out evil spirits by throwing beans) called "Toshikoshi (Year-end) Festival" is held around this time of the year.

今年の日程は下記の通りで、10日の1時には、友綱部屋の力士の方々が参加されるそうです。

The schedule of this year is below, and sumo wrestlers of Tomozuna stable are going to participate at 1 o'clock on the 10th.

2月10日：　　1時　2時　3時　4時　5時　6時
2月11日：　　2時　3時　4時　5時　6時　7時

Feb. 10 ：　1 o'clock　2 o'clock　3 o'clock　4 o'clock　5 o'clock　6 o'clock
